Who We Are

At Turning Point our counsellors are committed to providing you with a space to heal, reflect, and transform your relationship to yourself and others.
We hold true to the idea we can not take you to places we have not gone ourselves.   All our therapists and Interns are committed to this value by continuing to do their own personal work and in-depth training.
All therapists have been carefully selected to provide you with the skills to achieve your goals.  We understand that finding the right fit in a therapy relationship is very important and provide you with a variety of backgrounds and interests to choose from.

Aron Buky-Tompa RCC Counsellor

Pronouns He/Him

Aron has worked in the fields of mental health and addictions for over 9 years. His work centres around the therapeutic power of the relationship created in session, and uses the transformative power of a real human encounter to facilitate change.

Therapy can help create a new experience of what relationships can feel like. It provides space for healing trauma, processing anxiety, and finding meaning where there was only depression. Aron's practice focuses on clear communication and radical understanding, and fostering change through the therapeutic connection.

Working through trauma is a crucial part of therapy. It involves recognizing the places we can get stuck and frozen in restricted ways of living, and using the therapeutic bond to help move beyond the defensive and protective behaviours that trauma produces.  This allows us more freedom and agency to make choices and deeper connections with others.

Experienced with:
  • Anxiety
  • Addictions
  • Depression
  • Relational difficulties
  • Men's work, accountability, healthy masculinity
  • Childhood trauma and family of origin
  • Self-confidence and self-esteem
  • Mental health diagnoses (OCD, psychosis, eating disorders)
  • Alcohol and substance use

Tina Komarnicky, Counsellor

Pronouns she/her

Going to see a psychotherapist can be life changing. I am so excited to take part in your decision to explore yourself. I am trained in relational and somatic approaches to therapy, which help clients to learn how to relate differently to themselves and others. These approaches support connecting with who you are in the present moment, no matter what’s happened in the past, safely. I help clients work through existential and relational challenges, with others, within themselves, and with events in their lives.

People come to therapy seeking support during times that are challenging or changing. Following the need to explore and to resolve past conflict within themselves, find solutions, and create meaningful relationships. I invite you to experience therapy, as a personal transformation that provides a richer presence and awareness of the here and now. Living in the moment offers the potential for more excitement and the courage to live your life more fully and directly. Together we can explore the parts of you that are hurt or are not listened to and help integrate them into your experience as a whole, self-sufficient human being.

  • Addressing conflicts from earlier in life

  • Fears around Intimacy
  • Problems with an intimate partner, parent, coworker

Kellie Shamenski, LMFT RCC

Pronouns she/her
Kellie brings over 11 years of experience as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in both Los Angeles and New York City. She is committed to assisting clients in re-connecting to their true sense of self, including the core parts of oneself that are present without over-thinking and are aligned with our more vulnerable needs for safety, connection, and significance. Feeling safe and understood in session is paramount to co-creating emotional experiences that are transformative within therapy. Traumatic experiences leave us disconnected, disempowered, and stuck with automatic responses that take over. The good news is that neuroplasticity tells us that our brains continue to develop pathways throughout life and have the power to transform our emotions, our interpersonal relationships and assist us in mastering new skills.
Kellie’s approach to psychotherapy is eclectic and client-centered with an emphasis on combining concepts related to neurobiology and attachment. Additional influences include Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy,  Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Somatic Therapy. Kellie has been trained in the practice of EMDR and has a trauma-informed approach.

Experienced with;

  • Couples Counselling
  • Trauma, PTSD
  • Childhood difficulties
  • Anxiety, Depression
  • Attachment Struggles
  • Self-esteem
  • Grief and loss
