What is behind arguing?

If you seem to try and solve your conflict by arguing you may be trying to be right as a way of solving the dispute or differences. When we become focused on a right and a wrong, trying to prove something or make the other person’s opinion or desires wrong can have a detrimental impact on our relationship and the self-esteem of both parties.

In this video, I explore what leads us to try and be right and the different ways this affects a relationship. The video also explains why this dynamic often escalates as the relationship progresses.

Letting go of being right is not easy but if you want to have a happy and intimate relationship then learning to do that is an essential skill.
